Our Team

Andy Tonkin – Owner & Guide

Andy has been exploring the outdoors for more than 35 years. Growing up in Northern Ontario has instilled a love of nature and the outdoors.
He is an avid rock climber and mountain biker, and has been canoeing, kayaking and backpacking all his life.
In his spare time, he is a volunteer member of Search and Rescue Niagara, He is also the Marketing Director and a certified Hike Leader for the Grand Valley Trails Association.
He currently resides in Brantford which is located on the Grand River in Southern Ontario and is home to world class paddling and incredible trails.



Barry Buchwald – Guide

Barry was born and grew up just outside Algonquin Park in Northern Ontario. Barry has spent his life canoe tripping and fishing the interior of Algonquin. It is probably safe to say there are only a handful of lakes in the park that he hasn’t paddled on.
He is extremely well versed in outdoor skills and he also guides fishing trips and teaches Canoe Tripping School. In his spare time he is an avid runner, and cyclist. He also volunteers his time with Trout Unlimited performing stream rejuvenation.





Karli Ferrell – Guide

Being born and raised in Brantford Karli has canoed the Grand River since she was young. After receiving her guiding and instructing certifications several years ago with Paddle Canada and ASKGC she has professionally guided in some top canoeing and kayaking destinations such as Sydney Harbour, Australia and Vancouver Island. Karli is passionate about the outdoors, so when shes not on the river you can find her rock climbing, snowboarding, hiking or camping.





Danielle Amyot – Guide

Dani is a recent graduate of the Fleming College Ecosystem Management Technician Diploma and an outdoor enthusiast. She is always looking for ways to combine her knowledge of the outdoor world (wild edibles, tree, shrub and plant identification, wildlife observation and tracking) with her recreational outdoor favourites like canoeing, hiking, backpacking and camping.
Danielle is continuously updating her credentials with courses in bear awareness, wilderness first aid, canoe instruction and tripping, etc, in order to become a better guide and a wealth of knowledge for those traveling with her.
