With our canoeing photography workshops you can explore areas of Southern Ontario you would not normally have access to. Whether your interest is wildlife, macro or the larger landscape, a canoeing workshop lead by the very talented
Jim Davis is an excellent way to hone your photography skills. We operate only 1 hour from Toronto, and there is a variety of locations to choose from based on your experience levels.

What you will learnDuring the photography workshop we will look at the equipment used capture your images and how to use it effectively with good technique. We will discuss how photography is about capturing reflected light, during the workshop we will talk about when the best time to shoot based on your subject. Finally we will look into bringing it all together with effective composition.

During these trips there will plenty of time to go over the basics of photography or delve into more advanced skills depending on your needs. We will visit pre-selected locations shooting from the canoe or from the river bank or shoreline to maximize your chances to return with photo’s to be proud of.
We recommend you have a good understanding of your camera and equipment as well as bringing a waterproof case to protect against water damage when not in use. These affordable day trips will speed up the learning curve and help prepare you for longer adventures.

- digital camera – SLR or point & shoot
- waterproof case or bag for electronics
- rain protection for your camera and yourself
- tripods are not necessary but definitely recommended
- an extra battery for camera (optional, but a good idea)
- extra memory cards
- flashlight/headlamp for night shooting (if out for sunset)
- light gloves for cooler weather
- polarized sunglasses help on the water
