All of our youth programming takes place along the Grand River in Southern Ontario. Conveniently located only one hour from Toronto, we can adapt all our trips to meet Ontario Curriculum or Girl Guide or Scout programming. We have passion for the outdoors and enthusiasm to share knowledge with people of all ages. Our programming is focused on the understanding of outdoor safety, sustainability and stewardship of the environment.
Certified and Safety Focused
Our staff members are fully trained and qualified guides, including Paddle Canada and ORCKA certified canoe & kayak instructors and Swiftwater Rescue instructors. All of our guides are certified in First Aid & CPR. We also have on staff, Project Wild Educators certified by the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
Exploring the Grand River by Canoe
All of our canoe trips are on the Grand River, which has the prestigious designation of being a Canadian Heritage River. The Grand River situated in Southern Ontario, only one hour from Toronto. This trip offers a great outdoor experience allowing children to learn about:
- introductory canoeing skills and safety
- experiencing a traditional way of transportation
- canoeing as an outdoor physical activity
- local history
- native plants and wildlife identification

Chiefswood by Canoe – “The Song My Paddle Sings”
This full day adventure includes a 3-4 hour canoe trip from Brantford to Chiefswood National Historic Site where children will be given a tour of the Chiefswood Museum and the onsite Tall Grass Prairie.

Wild Edible Plants & Tree Identification Hike
During this half day (3 hour) workshop students will be taught how to identify some of the commonly found wild edible plants and tree species that grow in Southern Ontario. Other topics include:
- sustainability and preventing over harvesting
- common identification mistakes
- how to use your field guide (provided)
- a presentation of how to prepare a selection of wild edibles
